PAOK: Michailidis renews until 2030, but is out with a muscle strain
A significant agreement for PAOK's future was accompanied by a sporting problem.
Yiannis Michailidis extended his cooperation with the "Double-headed Eagle of the North" until the summer of 2030, but the examinations he underwent showed that he has suffered a first to second-degree muscle strain.
At PAOK until 2030
The "black and white" FC announced the extension of Michailidis' contract until June 30, 2030, confirming its intention to keep the Greek central defender as one of the key figures of the team's Greek core. His previous contract was set to expire in the summer of 2027.
The 26-year-old stopper has been at PAOK since 2016, when he joined the U17 team. His progression through the other age categories followed, before he was promoted to the first team in March 2019 and made his official debut in January 2020 against OFI.
Since then, he has recorded 166 appearances in all competitions, with a tally of 11 goals and seven assists. At the same time, he has won one championship and one Greek Cup with the "black and white" jersey.
His renewal is a clear vote of confidence from PAOK towards a player who comes from the club's academies, knows the team's demands well, and has overcome difficult periods in his career.
The forced substitution in Crete
The positive development with the new contract was accompanied by the bad news of the injury. Michailidis had felt discomfort in his adductor during the match against OFI in Heraklion and was forced to be substituted in the 53rd minute by Pantelis Hatzidiakos.
The MRI scan showed that he has suffered a first to second-degree muscle strain. His estimated absence is approximately 20 days, although his condition will be continuously re-evaluated by PAOK's medical staff.
