Olympiacos is in its best competitive period since the start of the season. The "red and whites" count nine consecutive victories in all competitions, remain two points behind leaders Panathinaikos and are preparing for two particularly demanding games against Rennes and PAOK.

Nine consecutive victories in three competitions

The winning streak began with a 2-1 against Jagiellonia and continued against Levadiakos, Panathinaikos, Marseille, Panetolikos, Sparta Prague, Kalamata, Marko and Kifisia. The record in this journey is impressive, as Olympiacos has scored 18 goals and conceded only three.

In seven of the nine games, they kept a clean sheet. The clean sheet streak stopped at Leoforos, where Kifisia came back from 0-2 and equalized to 2-2, before Gelson Martins gave the victory to the Piraeus team in the 90+5’.

Olympiacos' last loss was recorded on September 12, with a home defeat by OFI. Since then, Imanol Alguacil's team has found stability, gets results even when it does not reach high levels of performance and keeps all its goals open.

The difference from Panathinaikos in the standings

After the completion of the 9th matchday, Olympiacos is in second place in the Stoiximan Super League with 22 points. Leaders Panathinaikos have 24, as they beat AEK 2-0 and maintained the two-point difference.

The "red and whites" have a record of seven wins, one draw and one loss, with 15 goals for and four against. Panathinaikos is at 8-0-1 and also has a passive of four goals. The battle for the top remains open, with Olympiacos having already prevailed 1-0 in the first "eternal" derby of the season.

First the European test with Rennes

The focus is initially on the Europa League Phase. Olympiacos faces Rennes on Wednesday, November 4, at 17:30, at "Roazhon Park", for the 4th matchday of the competition.

The Piraeus team has achieved the absolute with three wins and is in 5th place with nine points. Another positive result in France will bring them closer to the top eight and direct qualification to the "last 16". Rennes is undefeated in Europe, having collected five points.

The derby with PAOK follows

Four days after the test in France, Olympiacos will host PAOK at "G. Karaiskakis". The derby is scheduled for Sunday, November 8, at 21:00, and stands out from the program of the 10th matchday.

PAOK is in third place with 18 points, four less than the Piraeus team. Therefore, the match has particular scoring importance for Olympiacos, which with a win will maintain pressure on Panathinaikos and at the same time increase its distance from the "Double-headed Eagle of the North".

In fact, when the derby starts, the "red and whites" will already know the result of Panathinaikos, which a few hours earlier is tested at Iraklis' home.

Alguacil's team enters, then, a week that can determine a lot in Europe and the championship. The streak of nine wins has created momentum, but the matches with Rennes and PAOK are the toughest tests of its course so far.
