Aris: Soutalo's first absence and Jensen's solution
Bosko Soutalo will be absent for the first time since establishing himself in Aris' starting eleven, with Fredrik Jensen being the most likely choice to replace him.
Bosko Soutalo will be absent for the first time since establishing himself in Aris' starting eleven, with Fredrik Jensen being the most likely choice to replace him.
The "yellow-blacks" have turned their attention to the home match against Panaitolikos (7/11, 19:30), in which Michalis Grigoriou is obliged to make at least one change in the center of the defense.
Soutalo accumulated cards and was declared to serve his penalty against the Agrinio team. This is the first match he will miss after joining Aris.
A regular in the starting eleven for almost two months
The Croatian center-back got his first start in the away derby against AEK, for the 3rd matchday of the Stoiximan Super League. From that game, he established himself in the starting lineup and formed, along with Fabiano, the main duo in the heart of the defense.
Since then, he has not missed any match, accumulating significant playing minutes. His absence creates a significant void in Grigoriou's plan, however, the forced rest may prove beneficial for him.
The consecutive games have caused fatigue to Soutalo, affecting his performance to some extent. The game he will miss, combined with the upcoming break, will offer him the opportunity to catch his breath before the demanding continuation.
Jensen returns to center-back
Grigoriou's available options for replacing Soutalo are limited. Matar Tiam remains out of action, while young Kamtsis is not high in the rotation.
Everything indicates, therefore, that Fredrik Jensen will move to the center of the defense and play alongside Fabiano. The Finn has been used in this position before and offers a proven solution to Aris' coach.
There is, in fact, an interesting coincidence. The last time Jensen played as a central defender was in the game against AEK, with Soutalo next to him, who was making his debut with the "yellow-blacks".
From that match, the Croatian never left the starting eleven again. Now that he will be absent for the first time, Jensen is preparing to return to center-back and cover his void.
