AEK: Looking for a reaction in the difficult match against Real, before returning to the league battle
AEK leaves behind the defeat in the derby against Panathinaikos and turns to the big European challenge against Real Madrid.

AEK leaves behind the defeat in the derby against Panathinaikos and turns to the big European challenge against Real Madrid. The "Union" hosts the "queen" on Wednesday (04/11, 19:45) at the Allwyn Arena, for the 4th matchday of the Champions League League Phase.
From the derby blow to Real
Marco Nikolic's team is coming off a 2-0 loss against Panathinaikos, in a game that did not go according to their plans. They conceded the first goal in just 33 seconds and the second in the 49th minute, and failed to react even when the "Greens" were left with ten players in the 70th minute.
Against Real, AEK is called to show a different face, mainly in terms of concentration and intensity. Their task is extremely demanding, but a competitive appearance against an opponent of this level can serve as a restart point after the disappointment of the derby.
Real with a perfect record in Athens
Real Madrid comes to Athens having achieved three wins in as many Champions League matches, with a record of ten goals scored and five conceded. They are in fourth place in the unified standings with nine points, while AEK is 29th with three points and a goal difference of 3-8.
Jose Mourinho's team is in excellent form and is coming off a 3-0 away win over Racing Santander, a result with which they completed six consecutive victories in all competitions.
The available players and Nikolic's dilemma
AEK completes its preparation today, with Marco Nikolic waiting for the last training session to ascertain the condition of Lazaros Rota and Aboubakarie Koita. Both suffered from a virus and played one half against Panathinaikos.
Joao Mario is definitely out, as he is hospitalized with pneumonia and is not expected to play in the upcoming match against Levadiakos. At the same time, Kutesa, Georgiev, Kaloskameis and Alexiou are not on the European list.
One of the main dilemmas concerns the goalkeeper position. Thomas Strakosha has returned to normal training, but remains without match rhythm, as his last appearance was recorded on September 5. Alberto Brignoli, therefore, still has the advantage due to his continuous appearances.
Levadiakos follows
After the big European night, AEK will immediately return to domestic duties. On Sunday (08/11, 17:00) they host Levadiakos at the Allwyn Arena for the 10th matchday of the Super League.
The schedule leaves no room for rest. The "Union" first needs a convincing performance against Real and then a return to victories in the league, so that the defeat by Panathinaikos does not create greater league pressure.
